I always say there are 3 types of Florida homes:
- Homes that had termites.
- Homes that have termites.
- Homes that will have termites.
Termites are just a part of living in Florida, and now is the time to be on high alert as swarming season begins.
⬇️ Here’s a quick guide to keep these unwelcome guests at bay:
1. Visual Cues: Look out for wood damage, termite waste, discarded wings, or actual termites themselves in and around your home.
2. Professional Inspection: Get an annual inspection done to stay ahead of infestations.
3. Keep It Dry: Termites are attracted to moisture. Ensure gutters and downspouts work property. Fix leaky faucets, water pipes, and AC units that may contribute to excess moisture.
4. Keep Wood Away: Leave a gap between mulch and your home’s foundation. If you need to use wood for repairs or construction, make sure it is termite-treated.
5. Be Smart in Swarming Season: Stay alert all year round, but especially March-June.
Don’t let termites eat away at your peace of mind.
